Gurban Aliyev is a PhD candidate in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Pisa and a research associate at the Institute of Information Science and Technologies (ISTI-CNR), within the KDD Laboratory. He holds an M.Sc. (cum laude) in Data Science and Business Informatics from the University of Pisa, which included an Erasmus+ exchange at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
His research focuses on urban computing, human mobility analytics, and data-driven methods for sustainable, exposure-aware routing systems. Following a research stay at the MRC Epidemiology Unit, University of Cambridge, he continues to collaborate with their team remotely on integrating environmental sensing with city-scale mobility patterns. His recent work has been published in the Mobile Networks and Applications (MONET) journal and presented at international venues, such as MDM 2025 and SSTD 2025.
