This project is the result of a scientific collaboration between KDD Lab and the Regional Institute for the Economic Planning in Tuscany (Istituto Regionale per la Programmazione Economica della Toscana – IRPET), for the realization of an informative system of the mobility in Tuscany through the use of big data. In particular, it aims at providing models and tools for the analysis of the mobility at urban and regional level, by integrating Big Data of GPS and GSM sources with other more conventional data sources. The objective is to analyze residence and mobility behaviors of people in Tuscany and implements modal choice models for provisional purposes and for evaluating the impact of political decisions. Some of the activities are about the study of poles of attractions like airports, commercial areas and health facilities, and the definition of the real borders of the metropolitan areas through the analysis of mobility behaviors.
